Christmas - Missing the Point

By some cultural standards, our Christmas was a success. Now, don't get me wrong, we had a lovely Christmas, just the three of us, but this year more than any previous year, it feels as if we missed the point. We had little spiritual content to our preparations for the day. We added the Adornaments to the tree when we put it up, reminding each other of their meanings. We attended our church's Love Feast, which is adapted from a Moravian tradition of the same name. There were no daily Advent readings or carol singing & I think that is what I missed the most this year - preparing for the celebration of the birth of Christ. I hope next year will be different.
