This contemporary classic, published in 1967 chronicles the story of two groups of kids living in the same city and going to the same school but living vastly different lifestyles. The "greasers" are struggling to hang on and are mistreated by the "socs." In reality, the teens in the group have much more in common than they think they do. As tragedy pulls them both together, yet keeps them apart at the same time, the characters learn about themselves and about each other. With the recent bullying incidents in the national news, S.E.
