52 Books in 52 Weeks - Book 21: Something Greater Than Gold

This summer I have been reading some of the books that my son will read during the upcoming school year. I am excited to post about this book, one of the any in the series Christian Heroes, Then & Now. Something Greater than Gold is the story of Eric Liddell, former Olympian turned missionary to China in the early twentieth century. The authors, Janet & Geoff Benge have managed to reach a balance in their writing that makes missionary work appealing to young people. Although they do mention some of the difficult circumstances in which missionaries find themselves, the Benges have managed to maintain the readers attention on the provision and grace of God, where it rightly belongs. This seems to be the tone of the few other books from this same series that I have read this summer as well. I recommend this book to those of you who are looking for books that encourage a lifestyle focused on Christ as well as anyone studying the Olympics or China.
