52 Books in 52 Weeks - Week 9: House Rules by Jodi Picoult

This week I had the pleasure of reading Jodi Picoult's latest novel, House Rules. True to form, Ms. Picoult has written another excellent novel. The story revolves around a young man with Asperger's Syndrome, who has a fascination with forensic investigations, and his family. In the context of a police investigation and court case, the author gives us a glimpse into the world of autism, advocacy and a court system that is ill-prepared to serve the autistic population. As Ms.Picoult spins the tale, she once again uses the varying perspectives of the main characters to lead us through a suspenseful,  multi-layered story. There is a minor romance thread that runs through the latter part of the book, however, this thread does not impact the story in a major way.  Fans of Ms. Picoult will find this book wonderful as they expect it and new readers will be hooked on her style of writing as she weaves current social and moral interests into a suspenseful, pleasurable read.
