52 Books in 52 Weeks - Book 15: Gilead
This is the best book that I have read this year! A Pulitzer Prize Winner, Gilead is "an account of himself and his forbears" written by Reverend John Ames to his son. It's rich descriptions of life through the generations of his family in a way that allows you to see the thread of faithfulness throughout. The wonder Reverend Ames expresses at the privilege of life itself is a constant theme as we learn from the wisdom of this fictional character. Full of wisdom, this book is an assurance that yes, we can stay the course of our faith and finish well, even when life's troubles come our way. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to live from generations past. Written by Marilynne Robinson, this fictional book is full of spiritual truth that will encourage your soul.
